Puedes escribirnos a [email protected].
05 Suscripción Can I Ride? Pro
Can I Ride?
09 Menores

Can I Ride? answers one question: is it dry enough to ride your motorcycle? To do that it needs to know where you are, and that location goes through a ZubiLabs server that forwards it to the weather provider and does not keep it. There is no account and no advertising. The only other things that leave your device are the Pro subscription (RevenueCat), crash reports (Sentry) and anonymous technical statistics (Expo). Here is the detail of each.

01 Who is responsible
The app and this policy are the responsibility of ZubiLabs (Jon Zubizarreta), based in Azpeitia (Gipuzkoa), Spain. You can write to us at [email protected].
02 In short
- No account, no sign-up: the app never asks for your name, email, phone number or anything else that identifies you.
- No ads, no tracking: there are no advertising SDKs, the advertising identifier of the device is not used and you are not followed across other apps or websites.
- Your location is used only to request the forecast. It travels to a ZubiLabs server, which forwards it to OpenWeather or WeatherAPI and neither stores it nor links it to you.
- Pro subscription through RevenueCat: it receives an anonymous identifier and the transaction details, never your name or your card.
- Crash reports through Sentry, hosted in the European Union: if the app fails, we receive what happened and on which device, plus a masked recording of the session that failed.
- Anonymous statistics: the app sends Expo technical data about launches and checks for updates. The details are below.
03 Data stored on your device
The app keeps the following in the device's local storage, and only to work:
- Your preferences: rain tolerance, wind limit, ice warning, units, language and whether you have completed onboarding.
- The places you save (home, work or others), with their name and coordinates, and which one is selected.
- Your last GPS position with the name of the town, so you can get a verdict with no signal and for the morning check.
- The morning check settings (on or off, departure time and the last day it was sent).
- The last forecast downloaded, so the app opens instantly and works offline. It is flagged as old after thirty minutes.
- RevenueCat's anonymous identifier and your subscription status, in the SDK's own cache.
This data is not synced with any ZubiLabs server and is deleted when you uninstall the app. If system backup is on (iCloud or Google), it may be included in that backup according to your device settings, not the app's.
04 Location
When you open the app we ask for location permission "while using the app". You can say no: in that case pick a place by hand with the city search and the app works the same. Location is never used in the background; the morning check uses the last known position it had already saved.
- To know which town you are in, the app asks the operating system's geocoding service (Apple or Google) for the name of the place matching your coordinates. That service is governed by the privacy policy of your operating system.
- To get the forecast, the app sends the coordinates (latitude and longitude) to the ZubiLabs server, hosted on Expo Application Services (EAS Hosting). The server rounds them to about a kilometre, forwards them to OpenWeather (free version) or WeatherAPI (Pro) and keeps the answer in memory for ten minutes so the same query is not repeated. It does not log the coordinates, does not link them to any identifier and has no database.
- When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to that same server and from there to OpenWeather's geocoder. Results are cached in memory for one day.
- OpenWeather (OpenWeather Ltd.) and WeatherAPI (WeatherAPI.com) receive the coordinates and the IP address of the ZubiLabs server, not yours. They process this data under their own policies (openweathermap.org/privacy-policy and weatherapi.com/privacy.aspx).
05 Can I Ride? Pro subscription
Can I Ride? Pro is bought on the App Store or Google Play, as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; ZubiLabs never receives your name, address or payment details.
To know whether your purchase is active on any of your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, a service of RevenueCat, Inc. (United States). RevenueCat receives a random identifier generated by the app, the platform, the app version and the transaction details the store passes on (product, date, renewal status). It does not receive your name, email or card. It processes this data under its own policy (revenuecat.com/privacy).
When you request a forecast with the Pro model, the app adds that anonymous identifier to the request and the ZubiLabs server checks with RevenueCat that the subscription is active before asking WeatherAPI. The result is kept in memory for ten minutes. Without this check anyone who knew the address of the server could use the paid provider.
06 Crash reports (Sentry)
To catch and fix errors, the app uses Sentry, a service of Functional Software, Inc. (United States), configured in its European Union data region (Germany). Sentry receives:
- When an error happens: the error type, message and stack trace, the device model, the OS and its version, the app version, the language, a random installation identifier and the IP address the report came from.
- A recording of the session in which the error happened and, at random, of one in ten sessions: which screens were shown and what was tapped. All text and images are masked in the recording; Sentry does not see the names of your places or the contents of the screens.
- Technical logs of the app (diagnostic messages without personal data).
What is not sent. Not your name, your email, your coordinates, your saved places, or the advertising identifier of the device.
Retention. Sentry keeps reports and recordings for 90 days, under its own policy (sentry.io/privacy). ZubiLabs does not copy them to any other system.
07 Technical data sent to Expo
The app talks to Expo Application Services (EAS), run by 650 Industries, Inc. (Expo), based in the United States, for two things:
| What | When | Data included |
|---|---|---|
| Launches (EAS Insights) | Every time you open the app | App version, platform (iOS or Android) and OS version, device language and region, version of the installed update. |
| Updates (EAS Update) | When you open the app, to check whether a fix is available | Platform, app version and update channel, plus a random installation identifier. |
Installation identifier. On install, the app generates a random code that goes along with these communications and is used to count distinct installs. It is not the advertising identifier, it is not linked to your Apple or Google account or to any personal data, and it disappears when you uninstall the app.
IP address. As with any internet connection, Expo's servers receive the device's IP address when serving the request, including when the app asks the ZubiLabs server hosted on EAS for the forecast. Expo processes it under its own policy (expo.dev/privacy); ZubiLabs does not log it.
Legal basis and retention. We process this technical data and the crash reports on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): keeping the app running and fixing errors. Location is processed because it is necessary to give you the forecast you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b)), and only for as long as the request lasts.
08 Notifications and sharing
The morning check is a local notification: your own device generates it from the forecast it has just downloaded. There are no push notifications, no notification token is sent to any server, and you can turn it off in the app or system settings.
When you share a verdict, the app renders an image on the device and hands it to the system share sheet. ZubiLabs does not receive the image and does not know who you share it with.
09 Children
Can I Ride? is an app for motorcycle riders and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has used the app, write to us and we will sort it out.
10 Your rights
The GDPR gives you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability. Because ZubiLabs stores nothing that could identify you, we cannot locate "your" reports or statistics to hand over or delete; what you can do is delete your preferences and places by uninstalling the app, revoke location permission in the system settings, and manage the subscription from your Apple or Google account. For any request write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days. If you believe we have not answered properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority of your country.
11 Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting anything new, we will update this page and the date above before releasing that version. Significant changes will also be announced in the release notes of the app.
